The Origins of DOUXE Hotel Luxury
Bart Kleiman and Liselotte Koenders both come from the world of luxury hotels. When they decide to change direction and start their own business, Bart takes the first step, with Liselotte following shortly afterwards.

Hotel Quality at Home
Liselotte: “You probably know the feeling: staying at a beautiful hotel and waking up in a bed so heavenly that you would love to take it home with you.
“We discovered that many people felt exactly the same way. After a night in such an exceptional bed, they would literally look up what they had slept on and under. That is how they found their way to our brand, and that was the beginning of DOUXE as a consumer brand.”
The Beginning: The Featherbed
In 2006, Bart founded DOUXE. In the beginning, the featherbed was the only product DOUXE offered. It was the answer to one of the questions Bart and Liselotte were asked most often: how is it that mattresses in luxury hotels feel so wonderfully soft?
Liselotte: “Well, it’s because of that topper filled with feathers and down. It literally makes you feel as though you’re sleeping on a cloud. In the US, this product has become almost indispensable in the bedroom. In the Netherlands, it was only just starting to catch on at that time.”
The Complete Collection
DOUXE soon expands its collection to include complete beds, luxury bed linen and bath accessories. After all, the ultimate hotel experience isn’t complete without the perfect pillow.
